Buckeye Catholic Photography
Buckeye Catholic is the Catholic campus ministry serving students at The Ohio State University. I had the honor of running communications for three years, and much of what I did was capture the heart of the ministry through photography. Enjoy students' encounters with Him.
Easter Vigil
The most anticipated night of the year at Buckeye Catholic. Tens of students flood into the sanctuary, ready to receive the sacraments. These moments hold such depth and joy beyond comprehension.

Easter Fire
At the beginning of the Easter Vigil, the fire is lit outside of the church, signifying the beginning of the liturgy. Its light casts great shadows into the darkness, illuminating the priest and servers present.

Joy of the Lord
Newly baptized, this student and her sponsor couldn't contain themselves as they giggled with joy at being granted the grace of Baptism.

Confirmation
One by one, the gift of the Holy Spirit is placed inside these students, coming into full communion with the Church. How beautiful!
Moments
Here are some glimpses of unique events that happen throughout the school year at Buckeye Catholic.

Stations of the Cross
At high noon on Good Friday, students flock to the Oval, the central quad on Ohio State's campus, to pray the Stations of the Cross publicly, inspiring others to stop and pause.

Mass at Mirror Lake
At the start of the school year, students flock to Mirror Lake on campus for Mass outside. It's a great point of evangelization and witness to students passing by.

Encounter Night
Once a year, students gather in the chapel of the Newman Center, home of Buckeye Catholic, to praise the Lord with song and adoration. The only light comes from candles, placed before the Lord with special intentions attached.
Eucharistic Processions
Once or twice a year, a Eucharistic procession takes place, leading from the Newman Center throughout campus, becoming a spectacle of light and witness to those who may not know the Lord.

Stopping Traffic
Crossing the street toward campus, hundreds of students stopped traffic to follow our Lord in the monstrance.

Sun on the Son
The light caught in perfect timing in this moment. The Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes, rose in the background as the monstrance crossed in front of it, pointing to our mission field.

The Heart of Campus
The hope in having these Eucharistic processions is that all 60,000 students that attend Ohio State may come to know Christ, and it starts by bearing witness to His beauty.
"You young people have in a special way the task of witnessing today to the faith; the commitment to bring the Gospel of Christ into the third Christian millennium."
