Liturgies

Here is my collection of special moments from sacred liturgies.

Our Lady of Mercy

In honor of Our Lady of Mercy, this parish, on her feast day, processed around the parish and through the parking lot, venerating her as a whole congregation.

Rorate Mass

A unique liturgy during the season of Advent, many parishes in the diocese celebrate a Rorate Mass by candlelight, squeezing it in before dawn.

Mass for Life

Once a year, the Diocese of Columbus hosts the Ohio March of Life, with a Mass for Life ahead of the march. The bishop of Toledo, Ohio, concelebrates the Mass alongside the bishop of Columbus.

National March for Life

Many schools, parishes and organizations from our diocese participate in the National March for Life in Washington D.C. every January. Here are a few moments from the day.

Moments of Peace

Before Mass on the morning of the March for Life, Bishop Fernandes of the Diocese of Columbus took some time in prayerful communion in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Waves of Life

As we marched toward the Supreme Court from the National Mall, we ascended in waves, giving perspective to the volume of pro-life present.

Flags Flying High

As we rounded the corner on part of the march, the capitol building lined up perfectly between our diocesan flags, claiming ground on the location and magnitude of the moment.

Ohio March for Life

The Ohio March for Life takes place every year in October, encouraging communities to stand up for life and its inherent right for every person.

Marcha por la Vida

Thousands crowded the streets to show their support for the March for Life, from all ages and cultures.

Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Blessed Mother is a powerful intercessor, as this man portrayed her on a beautiful tapestry as we marched.

High Schools

Many schools from around the state brought groups to share in the march, bringing hope for the future.

Back to School

First-graders joyfully receive cones full of goodies during the first week of school, giving them a boost as they step into elementary school for the first time.

Sisters at Rest

During a local church pilgrimage, two sisters took a breath to catch up with one another, displaying the sacredness in pausing and being with one another.

Día de Los Muertos

At a local elementary school, dancers performed for the Day of the Dead, honoring those who have gone before us.
